Overview
Elizabeth (“Liz”) Shea is a disability advocate, reformer, and attorney with over 20 years of experience in government and the nonprofit sector. Most recently, Liz represented individuals with disabilities, their families, and the organizations that serve them throughout the state of New Jersey at the law firm of Porzio Bromberg & Newman, PC, where she remains Of Counsel. Prior to that, Liz served as the Assistant Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services where she spearheaded a system-wide reform of the New Jersey developmental disabilities system. In that capacity, Liz ran one of the largest divisions in state government with over 8,000 employees and an operating budget of $2.1 billion. Liz has extensive expertise in developmental disabilities, special education, affordable housing policies & programs, early intervention services, Medicaid-funded Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) and nonprofit governance and compliance. Liz’s dynamic leadership and strategic planning skills are an incredible asset to Apis’s Office of Policy & Legal Counsel.
